Wharton Center new season lineup
May 9, 2019
With the current Broadway season coming to a close with the world-wide phenomenon Hamilton, the Wharton Center for Performing Arts center will begin promotion for it’s next season. On April 16, 2019, the Wharton Center released their 2019-2020 Broadway series event lineup. The new season will feature a plethora of genres of theatre, including new musicals, timeless shows, Broadway hits, and TONY winning productions. Classic shows like My Fair Lady (Feb. 26-Mar. 1) will be featured on the stage, as well as new musicals and Broadway hits such as Come From Away (Sep. 10-15), Dear Evan Hansen (Jun. 16-21), and Disney’s Aladdin. Popular musicals like Les Miserables (Nov. 12-17) and Wicked (Apr. 1-19) will be returning to the Cobb Great Hall next season.
“I am most excited to see Come From Away,” said junior Travis Hunt. “The story is very important and the music from it is so important.” Hunt is an avid theatergoer and is excited for the new season of shows.
“Seeing Wicked is another interest of mine. I’ve seen it before and it’s one of my favorites.”
While tickets are not yet available to the general public, the Wharton Center does have season subscriptions available for purchase (the performing arts center offers a Wharton Center season subscription). This subscription allows fans an early access to tickets at a reduced price. In order to get the cheaper tickets, possible subscribers must buy tickets for at least five of the six available musicals coming to East Lansing.
