Taylor Swift Follow-Up, Her Influence On Olivia Rodrigo
April 23, 2021
As many of us know by now, Taylor Swift recently re-recorded her album “Fearless”, as well as released six new tracks, for a total of 27 songs in “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”. While most of these songs are simply just her matured vocals with the lyrics from 2008, there are a few key differences between the songs from 2008 and the 2021 album. If you’ve been listening to Swift’s music for a while, it won’t be difficult to tell how much her music and voice have grown up and matured over the course of her career. Throughout the entire album, she leveled up the vocals extremely well. It is amazing to see how she has grown over the years. Taylor has been making music since she was 16 years old, and it’s likely she’s not going to stop anytime soon. There has been a ton of speculation over what album she is planning on releasing the re-recordings for next. Some think 1989, others think Speak Now or Debut is going to be coming soon. Whichever one comes next, eventually she will own all of her masters, and be done with Scooter Braun for good. If you’re not totally sure what’s going on with this, check out my previous article, “Taylor Swift is Releasing New Versions of Her First Five Albums”.
Her music has been an inspiration for many, including new singer Olivia Rodrigo. Olivia has said before that Swift was a huge part of her childhood, as well as an inspiring force for her music. Rodrigo also recently announced that her very first album, her debut album, SOUR is coming out May 21st. The tracklist features 11 songs, including “deja vu” and “driver’s license”, leaving nine new tracks for her fans to enjoy. Rodrigo is a relatively younger artist, as she just recently turned eighteen on February 20th. Olivia has developed a strong social media presence with 5.6 million tik tok followers as well as 7.4 million followers on Instagram. She has made a name for herself with just her first two singles. As impressive as this is for anyone, it is especially impressive that an 18-year-old was able to make the billboard hot 100 songs for both of the singles she has out, even more impressive, both hold places in the top ten, number five and number eight.
We can expect to see big things from both of these artists in the coming years.
