On December 3, 2023, Fortnite launched Chapter Five season one of Fortnite. For some, this means nothing, but to others, it’s the rip-off of games. Fortnite adds modes such as Lego Fortnite, an open world similar to Minecraft, where the player is transported to a Lego world where the player must scavenge, build, loot, and kill monsters to build their civilization.
“Lego Fortnite, that’s fun, but I’m kind of over it now. Lego Fortnite was like really fun for three weeks but then it kind of got boring, there is not really a final boss, so that’s kind of boring,” junior Owen Martin said.
Another game mode added was Fortnite Festival. This is a game mode extremely similar to what many people know as Guitar Hero. Unlike Guitar Hero, Fortnite Festival is a mode where four members in a band must strum the right note at a certain time on the slider to earn points and stars to compete against other bands. “Fortnite Festival was actually pretty good it’s just that they make you buy the stupid songs which is lame, 500 V Bucks per song is stupid. Compared to Guitar Hero the game is way easier,” senior Colin Curtis said.
In addition to the already two game modes mentioned, Fortnite has added another game mode. What Fortnite is calling “Rocket Racing”, after Epic Games had purchased Rocket League from Psyonix, players race around a track against other players in the lobby hoping to secure first place around the track.
“Rocket Racing is the most fun, least boring out of the three, I wouldn’t play Lego Fortnite I would rather just go play Minecraft, and Festival hurts my hands. Drifting and beating other people is pretty fun, it’s easy to play and similar to Mario Kart but more fast-moving,” junior Ben Elder said
A game has never seen updates like this ever, Fortnite has just turned one game into four, and I wonder if we will ever see these game modes removed.
“I like the new game modes, they’re fun to play with friends and it’s a lot less stressful than playing battle royale,” junior Faith Landers said.
