The new romantic comedy ‘Anyone But You’ starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney came to theaters on Dec. 22. Online social media such as TikTok, are places where you find many people who are posting about the movie.
“I think the actors and the plot especially are what made the movie really good! I liked it because of how they went from hating each other to actually falling in love,” said junior, Sophie Cook.
The plot of enemies to lovers as well as fake dating is what caused many to really like the movie. The movie begins with Ben and Bea meeting each other and spending the night together. But in the morning they left on bad terms leading to them to hate each other. Soon they find out Ben’s best friend and Bea’s sister are getting married and they have to travel to Australia together. They don’t want to ruin the wedding so they fake dates to get people away from them. The fake dating then leads them to realize that they have feelings for each other.
In the movie they used the song Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield, it was first released in 2004. Due to the movie being so popular the song itself once again regained popularity and caught the attention of many as well as now hitting top music charts 20 years later.
The song was used in the movie as a ‘serenity’ song for Glen Powell’s character Ben. Ben used the song due to the fact he was scared of playing and when Sydney Sweeney’s character Bea was flying with Ben she sang it to him to calm him down.
The song gained so much popularity on TikTok and became a favorite to many.
“I had only heard the song a few times prior to the movie but now it’s one of my favorite songs,” said Cook.
When it came to the casting of the movie, many were skeptical of the two but after watching the movie, many came out with different opinions.
“I thought they did a great job with the casting and the location. I wasn’t sure about some of the actors but I feel that they really did a good job with the movie,” said Cook.
Many have said that this movie is one of the new best Rom-Coms that will be talked about for a long time. People say that this movie could be considered a classic but that’s a thought that only time will tell.
