For the Grand Ledge Seniors, their last year of highschool is coming to an end. Many of the Seniors have announced their college decisions or for some students, have committed through their sport.
Lucille Herson, a senior at Grand Ledge High School, committed to Grand Valley State University (GVSU). Herson is majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in music. Herson is a student athlete who also committed to GVSU for tennis.
“I have been playing tennis for 8 years. I was on JV for freshman year which is typical and all the rest on Varsity,” Herson said. “ My advice [for someone starting out with tennis] would be never back down from every chance to get the ball.”
Herson, being the most experienced and well known among the team, has led her to win awards such as the most improved player and the powerhouse of the team. Most high school athletes have their favorite moment of their career, so after four years she did, and without hesitation shared her moment.
“My favorite win was against Lansing Catholic when I played number 1 singles and won in the last set,” Herson said.
Leaving Grand Ledge with a grown experience of tennis and moving onto the campus life, Herson has shared her goals and hopes as a player.
“My goal for college tennis is to make singles and what I’m looking forward to is the community of players,” Herson said.
