After 41 years of teaching and 17 years teaching at Grand Ledge Mr. Krumm is retiring. He has fulfilled his years of life as a teacher, from working in Okemos to now working here at Grand Ledge for his final teaching job. This Last trimester will be his last trimester working here.
Krumm Teaches Sociology and global studies, he is a well loved teacher. He has all around won 7 Senior Oscars, 2 teacher of the year and this past year won best story teller.
“One of my favorite parts about teaching is getting to know the students and having that positive effect on them,” Krumm states.
Many students love Krumm and his classes. “It’s hard to see teachers you love leave, but I wish him the best for his future,” Naomi Fitten, a Grand Ledge student said. Fitton has had his for multiple classes over the past year and has enjoyed every single one. Even though many students will miss him, he will be making his retirement all worthwhile.
Krumm’s plans for retirement is to spend more time doing things that he never had time to do while teaching. He wants to travel some more and focus on some of his hobbies like hunting and fishing. Krumm travels to Montana and Colorado with family to go hunting and he wants to keep doing that after he leaves.
When asked about advice to newer teachers he said, “Have empathy and good structure, as far as discipline and accountability.” Krumm had a big impact on the community and will continue to leave his legacy even if he no longer is teaching students at Grand Ledge HIgh School.
