This year, the student section at Grand Ledge High School has been full of participation. From the spirited cheers to the creative themes, students have come together to support our football team.
“I love being in the student section because I get to laugh and chant with my friends,” Senior Ella Baird commented.
Some of the most memorable chants from the student section include classics like “Let’s Go, Comets!” and “Go Big Blue!” The energy in the stands was visible, with everyone dressed in the spirit of the night, waving signs, and chanting in unison.
One student Grace Freed, a senior at Grand Ledge shared her favorite moment.
“A memorable moment for me is when my friends and I took a copycat sign into the Dewitt student section after they stole our theme and started chanting at them.”
These shared experiences make the student section a special place for everyone involved.
This enthusiasm has not only brought the students closer together but also made a significant impact on the athletes. Linebacker Ashton Delaney highlights the impact of the cheering from the student section on their performance.
“Towards the end of the game the cheering and yells pump us up to finish the game strong,” said Delaney.
The student section plays a role in the game of football when it comes to cheers and chants however there are some improvements players would like to see.
“I would like to see more chants and more signs. However, the themes are good because they allow students to participate in a fun way,” said Delaney.
Although the student section can be seen as just a place to hang out with friends and laugh, it’s important to acknowledge the impact it has on the football team. The support from the stands fuels the players’ energy and determination on the field.
“I’m glad to see them support us. It makes the game worthwhile,” said Delaney.
