The winner of the presidential election was former President Donald Trump. This was called early Wednesday morning without all votes being counted and reported to the public.
Before the votes started to be counted, multiple news sources explained, the swing states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin needed to be won to secure a spot at the White House for the next four years.
A swing state also known as a battleground state, is a state that can go either way, Republican or Democratic. These states are very important for candidates to continuously campaign in due to them going either way in the elections. Many states in America are predicted to be Republican or Democratic due to how they have gone in previous elections, but swing states are constantly going back and forth between Republican and Democratic.
Through the closing days of the elections, both candidates chose to spend their time in these swing states to hopefully gain the votes of the people.
With the efforts both of the candidates made in the closing days of the election, they each showed they weren’t going down without a fight. But as the votes started to be counted once the polls began to close on the night of Nov. 5, 2024, they began to give former President Trump a lead.
Throughout the night most of the more southern states went to former President Trump and the Eastern States went to Vice President Harris. The race was evenly close as the night started but as more votes began to come in and states finalized their votes former President Trump began to gain many electoral college votes at a fast pace. This resulted in the winner being called early Wednesday morning. Once the states finished with counting former President Trump was now the official winner and regained the Presidental status.
