A new addition to Grand Ledge is arriving soon. The opening date is undisclosed, but rumor has it that it’ll be sometime late January. Students at Grand Ledge High School are seen with coffees, teas, or energy drinks in their hand. Starbucks, Biggby, Toad’s, Dunkin are all on Saginaw Highway. Although this new addition could cause more traffic, tardies, and money spent for a sweet treat on the way.
An avid coffee lover, senior Abby Blastic, “For some students they will now arrive to class on time because they don’t have to drive further to get their coffee, they now have Biggby much closer to them. On the other side of this Biggby may cause other students to arrive late, because they will be more willing to leave for lunch without taking traffic and wait time into consideration”
“I think it will increase activity around town, and I think a large amount of students, especially at lunchtime will be attending with this being a closer proximity to the school,” senior Aubrie Parish shares.
Parish works at the Biggby on Saginaw Highway and mentions how busy it is after school or even on weekends during her shifts.
“I think the current Biggby will have a bit more competition, with some of the current customers that drive from Grand Ledge now choosing the new one that is closer to them.”
Grand Ledge, known as a small town, is gradually growing bigger with new businesses unlocking their doors.
An avid coffee lover, senior Abby Blastic, Blastic shares her thoughts on the town’s growth. “I believe more people will come out for their morning coffee rather than making it at home. People having a close coffee shop to them compared to driving ten minutes to the other coffee shop will create a more active environment.”
