Coming up quickly this April is Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, who are both some of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now, and fans of both industry-running celebrities are ecstatic about the coming of the new rom-com-drama. We’ve seen them in huge movies like Spider-Man, The Batman, and dozens more, but before The Drama, they’d never acted alongside each other.
However, this isn’t the only movie they’ll be starring in together– Pattinson and Zendaya will both have parts in the upcoming Dune: Part Three and The Odyssey, which are both coming out in 2026 as well.
Having two actors who are so widely known and loved appear in not one but three movies in a single year is sure to attract significant pop-culture attention. We’ve seen this “in another universe…” kind of thing happen loads of times in Hollywood, and it’s really fun to point out when you notice it. To celebrate Zendaya and Pattinson’s upcoming movies together, here are three more iconic boy-girl duos that we’ve seen share a screen throughout the years.
- Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone
Gosling and Stone share three movies: Gangster Squad (2013), Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011), and La La Land (2016). All of which, they play love interests in. They have such a sublime chemistry that’s unmatched by any other actor and actress. On second thought, I think Stone has chemistry with everyone… Maybe even with Jesse Plemons in Bugonia…
I definitely think that La La Land is one of those movies that everyone needs to watch– just maybe not with your boyfriend/girlfriend. It definitely reminds you that there’s a good chance of despair in a relationship.
- Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan
Chalamet and Ronan are definitely the most popular of the three duos among younger generations. I’ve seen a big resurgence of Little Women since its 2019 adaptation, which starred the two actors; the rest of the cast was also stacked, with Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, and Meryl Streep, making the movie a big hit and staying a staple movie to this day.
The two also starred in Lady Bird (2019), which is absolutely OBSESSED over by Gen-Z audiences for its coming-of-age charm. Chalamet’s character is pretty punchable, though. Then, there’s The French Dispatch (2021), which, of course, has all of Wes Anderson’s favorite actors: Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Benicio Del Toro… I’ve yet to watch this one, but I’ve seen Chalamet’s wacky hairdo, which makes him look like he rolled out of bed and doused himself in hairspray.
- Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore
I grew up watching Adam Sandler movies every minute of the day, so of course, I’ve seen The Wedding Singer (1998) and 50 First Dates (2004), in which both actors have very amusing performances. Both rom-coms have such a cutesy, warm vibe that died in the early 2010s and likely will never come back (make sure to read Why Romance Movies Fell Off After the 2000s, where staff writer Aubrey Davis and I talk about the decline in rom-com quality)!
Sandler and Barrymore also co-starred in Blended (2014) and Isn’t It Romantic (2019), which are some of the better romantic comedies after the golden age passed.
I’m one of many fans who fixate over celebs’ filmography, and I just might do the same for Zendaya and Pattinson. I’m excited to see what will come of their upcoming movies!
