The Grand Ledge golf team has been a fun part of the spring sports season. The varsity golf team has talented young players in Nolan Browning and Danny Kelly. They are both shining stars in the bright future for the Comets’.

The team has been looking up the past few matches having multiple scores into the low 40s’ on their 9 hole competitions but they are still looking for someone to dip into the upper 30’s. Nolan who is currently a sophomore at the high school is the number one golfer on the team shooting a best of 41! That for as a sophomore in their first year of golf shows extreme promise for when he gets that experience of match play under his belt. The rest of the team has also been playing well. Junior Mitchell Stokes has shown some promise going forward, he also shoots around 42-44 and has been a big part in helping some of the younger players on the JV and varsity team.

Although the team isn’t state championship contenders by any means there has been some real excitement with the players that are coming through the program. Jasper Bock a sophomore on JV has been shooting a surprising best of 44. Although he wasn’t placed on the varsity squad to start the year he has seen vast improvements in his game cutting nearly 10 strokes off of his initial tryout score. Now with multiple members of the sophomore class looking like they are headed towards a bright future, the team could potentially become a threat in the Lansing area.
