Landon Parker is one of the captains of the Grand Ledge Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team. He is a senior this year and is committed to playing D1 lacrosse at Monmouth University in
New Jersey, where he plans to study business. Parker has been in lacrosse since third grade and
has a deep love for the sport. “Just hanging out with the team is awesome. All the guys are really fun to be around and it’s awesome to play for a goal together,” Parker said.
Last year, the team won All-American , as well as winning back-to-back regional championships. Last year’s regional championship was an overtime match against Rockford.
While Parker is an impactful lacrosse player for the team he also prioritizes school.
“School is definitely the most important thing. I mean getting good grades translates over to playing. You get good grades and you are able to play, ” said Parker.
His biggest advice for student athletes, “definitely focus on school first. Because without that school aspect, you’re not going to be able to play the sport you love. So definitely work hard. Put that effort in it and you’ll get the results,” Parker shared.
Parker expressed confidence in how the team will play this year. “I believe we definitely have a chance to compete in the state championship for the ring” The teams sucess is reflected in their recent games, with wins against Harper Creek 20-0 and 21-6 against Romeo, a Detroit team.
