Grand Ledge High School teacher Jason Westra-Hall was awarded the International Literacy Association 30 under 30 for 2025. This award aims to highlight the contributions of young professionals, educators, researchers, and advocates who are making significant impacts in literacy education. Westra-Hall was selected for his innovative work in teaching, dedication and commitment.
Westra-Hall is very active in the GLHS student community, being the advisor of many clubs like GSA, Model UN, Diversity Club, and Orion’s Belt. He is also the advisor of the Yearbook Staff. Westra-Hall is an English teacher and currently teaches AP Lang.
Not only has he won this award but he also was awarded the 2024 Bill Koenigsberg Award which is awarded to those who advocate for marginalized youth through literature. Westra-hall is also a part of the Michigan Council of Teachers of English. Overall he has had an influence on his students and throughout GLHS.
