Taylor Pangborn passes the finish line of her 4×400-M race. The team placed second in a hard fought battle.

Grand Ledge women’s track team is home to one of the best runners in the state of Michigan. Taylor Pangborn is potentially the best runner that the women’s track team has ever had.

She held the school’s 800-meter race record as a sophomore and was a part of a very good 4X400-m team that same season. This year was no different she shattered her own record in the 800 by almost 3 seconds as it now stands at (2:16.30). She’s no pushover in the 1600-meter race either running a blazing time of (5:16.73) which is also a top 3 time in school history.

Times like these don’t just come without training though, Taylor puts in hours of work “5-6 days a week,”. Taylor wasn’t the only runner on the team with crazy numbers this year, her fellow 4X400-m teammate Lauren Hamilton was just barely a second off of Taylor’s time and both of their success contributed a lot of points for the Comets down the stretch.

Their success built the team’s chemistry and morale as after many of the meets runners on the team would post everyone out together enjoying dinner. “The team environment is like a little family,” Pangborn said when asked about the team’s relationship.

Although the Comets were unable to host any track meets this year with the construction of the new track people hope that there will be some next year so that parents and students can go enjoy watching some great runners. “I’m excited about the new track it always gives me more motivation when I look over and see all my friends and family cheering me on,” Pangborn says about the new track.

The Comets are returning a lot of their girl runners and should be fun to watch so make sure you come out and support them next season!
