February 8, 2026, will be more than just another Sunday in American households. The Super Bowl starts at 6:30 on the dot that night with the New England Patriots on the line against the Seattle Seahawks. People don’t just look forward to the game, watching the players charge towards each other for 4 hours, but to the halftime performance, advertisements, and the food.
Mrs. Hess, a math teacher at Grand Ledge High School, shares her love for sports with her students, showcasing University of Michigan flags in her classroom. Hess attended Michigan for college and remains to show her love for the collegiate football team. She doesn’t only immerse herself in college football, but professional football, fantasy football, and other collegiate sports.
“This year I’m rooting for the Seahawks. I think it’s kind of a free for all, but it’s going to be more of a low scoring 1st half, and then the offense is …. 2nd half, so kind of middle of the road,” Hess admits.
She not only carries ball knowledge, but also acknowledges her favorite halftime performance given at the Super Bowl.
“See, the most memorable ones are from when you guys (students) were, like, babies. Oh, so I liked Justin Timberlake. But then I also really liked Lady Gaga as well and The Weeknd was really good. My favorite one though was back in 2022 with Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg. It was like all of my college music. Fantastic. 10 out of 10.”
Dr. Dre led the performance with making a shoutout to his hometown, Los Angeles, and brought out the infamous rappers of the West, Lamar and Snoop.
Households full of family and friends may be at each other’s throats defending their teams and like every year, fighting to get the first plate at the table. One of the most popular dishes to serve at a Super Bowl party or really any get-together would be buffalo chicken dip.
“Buffalo chicken dip is a classic. You get veggies, you have the pita bread, you have tortilla chips, extra cheese, and extra cream cheese,” Hess shares.
As for the game, it seems as if people are favoring the Seattle Seahawks to win with the probabilities ranging from 60-70%. As many fans do, bets are placed between friends, coworkers, and family. Although Jim McIngvale, known as ‘Mattress Mack’, has placed a $2 billion bet on the Patriots to win. If the East Coast team wins, Mattress Mack will pay back customers who had previous purchases over $4,000. For now, fans can only place bets and hope for the best. May the odds ever be in the Seahawks favor.
