Mayra Cruz Santiago, Section Editor/ Podcast Host

Hello! my name is Mayra Cruz Santiago, and I’m 17 years old and a Senior at Grand Ledge Highschool. I am the editor for Entertainment and Opinions. I am also the editor for the Comet Cast podcast and the host as well. This is my second year writing for the newspaper team. I love writing because it makes me happy knowing that I’m writing something that someone might enjoy and be informed of. I also enjoy interviewing people because I love meeting new people and creating connections and writing about the experiences they share.

Outside of newspaper, I do other things like community service for NHS. I enjoy helping others in the community because even the smallest things can help someone out or even change their life. I also recently joined the Women’s Equality Club and re-joined choir. Outside of school one of the things I love doing is creating art. It can range from painting, drawing, and sculpting. In the future, I want to possibly become an ESL teacher and study at CMU to help students and families that were once like me.
