The soccer field has always had special meaning to Maryn Davies. As she laces up her cleats before her game, she thinks of everything playing soccer has taught her over the past 8 years. Teamwork resonates most, when she thinks of soccer. Throughout her soccer career she has learned that working as a team means relying on others and herself to reach the end goal, winning the game, “ There is no I in team ”, says Davies. Being part of a team has shaped Maryn’s life greatly, she is motivated and determined. As she stands in her starting position she thinks to herself, “ I know what I can do to get the ball down the field ”. This determination goes further than the soccer field. Maryn is determined in every aspect of her life. Whether it is taking tools she has learned from soccer and applying them to her everyday life, to getting up everyday and saying “ Today is going to be a good day ”.  Maryn was born in Lansing, but spent a lot of her childhood in Muskegon, where her grandparents live. Her grandparents have had a huge impact on shaping her into the person she is today.  They showed  her that being a genuine person gets you far in life, and also to never give up. Maryn and her grandpa have a very close bond, from watching Spongebob Squarepants every night before bed, to teaching her how to swing a club on the golf course. They did everything together when she was a child.  In addition to visiting her grandparents, her dad lived in Colorado while serving in the Military. Maryn was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time out west, and it really showed her the beauty of nature and different landscapes. Maryn is very ambitious as well, she has a lot of goals in her life that she is sure to fulfil. A goal of hers is to go to college and continue her soccer career as well as studying law, to become a lawyer like her dad.
